With support of the Kyal Sin May Development Organization and guidance from Spectrum, she started cultivating Black Soldier Flies (BSF) — converting kitchen and agricultural waste into high-protein feed for her chickens and ducks.
Despite initial difficulties, her determination resulted in success. Nowadays, she produces 300g of BSF eggs and 12kg of starter larvae each month. Her poultry benefits from the BSF diet, demonstrating accelerated growth and better health, while her feed expenses have notably reduced.
In the future, she intends to utilize BSF frass as an organic fertilizer for her flower garden, promoting a zero-waste approach.
For Ma Su Wai Hlaing, BSF farming represents more than just a project — it is a sustainable approach to ensuring food security, generating income, and protecting the environment.
